The first two weeks of August 2010 was the climax of the ongoing T-square involving Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. Because the planets involved are in Cardinal signs it has been labeled the Cardinal Cross, but it is also being called the Cardinal crisis, Cardinal Climax and even Cosmic Cross. During this time, these three planets are withing two degrees total orb, the tightest of this T-square’s life.

That alone makes this period important because the last time there was a similar pattern with these planets was in the early 1930′s, the Great Depression and the downward spiral toward world war and the deaths of 70 million people. Irv Givot has been studying the enneagram in the form first introduced to the Western world by George Gurdjieff in 1913, for over thirty years.

The enneagram is an ancient circular symbol that allows one to visualize any process as an octave, or a seven-aspected phenomenon, and therefore come to a new understanding about the relationship between the steps of a process, how it proceeds, and how it can be brought to completion.

Dr. Givot is currently at work writing a long paper (or short book) on the Enneagram of healing, a practical guide to understanding the whole process of healing as a transformative journey.

Lessons from a Near-Death/Afterlife Experience

The biggest surprise when we die is that we are still very much alive. In fact, we don't die! That’s what Diane Goble realized as her body drowned in a white water river accident 39 years ago and she traveled through a tunnel towards a bright light accompanied by a Being of Light. She will share some of the highlights of her journey to the other side and back, and the spiritual path she has been on ever since.

Following her experience and years of struggling to readjust, Diane returned to education and earned two masters degrees, Community Psychology and Hypnotherapy, and became an ordained minister. She taught stress management, had a private practice as a psycho-spiritual counselor, and specialized in past-life regression therapy for many years in Florida and California.

In 1996 she focused on the internet with her web site, A Near-Death Experience BeyondtheVeil.net, and answered emails from people all over the world. She recently released two electronic books, Conversations with a Near-Death Experiencer and More Conversations with a Near-Death Experiencer, containing some of the emails she responded to over 12 years.

Alchemy of Healing

Steven Tracy is a certified Alchemical Hypnotherapist who recently move to Bend from the Puget Sound region of Washington with roots in Southeast Idaho. As an Alchemist, he works with men and women using age old yet cutting edge emotional release techniques along with his brand of hypnotherapy. He specializes in anger release, not to be confused with anger management.

Steven was a Journeyman Control and Instrumentation Electrician when he began his emotional wound healing journey. First came sobriety as he is 24 years clean and sober. He is in leadership in The Mankind Project, which he attributes to a profound spiritual awakening that facilitated a career change into the healing arts. He walks many spiritual paths, including 12 Step Recovery, Science of Mind, and the Native American Good Red Road.

Steven is a Hospice volunteer, drug and alcohol interventionist, empowerment facilitator, and story teller. His devotion to the human race and the work he does with what he calls "The Walking Wounded", he defines as true compassion. His personal life mission states, "I create harmony through compassion and laughter." Laughter is a natural gift for Steven as he was born on April Fools Day.

Faith development as we mature: What are we leaning into?

This talk will give an overview of the stages of faith development as proposed by James W. Fowler, a developmental psychologist. The work proposes a staged development of faith (or spiritual development) across the life span. It is intertwined with the work of Piaget, Erikson, and Kohlberg regarding aspects of psychological development in children and adults.

The talk, while an overview, will help us open to the paradigm of faith stages and explore what these stages may mean on a practical level in our lives.

Beth Patterson has an undergraduate degree in elementary education and an MA in religion from Iliff School of Theology in Denver.

She has served 20 years in end-of-life care at hospices in Florida and Colorado, first as a clinician in bereavement, children’s grief programs, and chaplaincy, and then as an administrator, operations officer and fund developer.

She has helped pioneer support and educational programs related to wellness and healing for children and adults, and programs specifically for persons living with AIDS.

Beth’s deepest desire is woven into the Hafiz poem: “One regret, dear world, that I am determined not to have when I am lying on my deathbed is that I did not kiss you enough.”

In this his second presentation at SAC, Blaine will continue to demonstrate how songs and musical pieces can have direct influence on connecting to Spirit and thus aid in healing our minds and bodies.

Blaine has a Master's Degree from U of O, has lived in central Oregon since 1984, and recently retired after 31 years teaching vocal and instrumental music in Oregon public schools.

He has performed with Obsidian Opera, Juniper Opera, Sparks Production Company, Swing Shift, The High Desert Stockmen, Cascade Festival of Music, Sunriver Music Festival, Central Oregon Symphony, and the Taize Choir.

Blaine served on COSA Board of Directors for four years, and has completed the two-year course work in Spiritual Direction through the Sacred Art of Living Center.

Currently, he is the Music Cantor for the Spiritual Awareness Community.

Career Highlights
From November 1998 to January 2010, Jim was with Niton LLC, a supplier of hand-held x-ray fluorescence (HHXRF) spectrometers. In 2004, Niton was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific. With Thermo, Jim’s positions included VP Int’l Sales, Mgr Key Accounts, and Director, Business Development.

Prior to joining Niton, Jim was VP XRF Analyzers for Outokumpu Electronics, subsequently, Metorex, Inc., of Espoo, Finland. At Metorex he managed Western Hemisphere operations. During his 20 years with Metorex, Jim held various positions in technical sales and product management of portable XRF analyzers. In these positions Jim helped pioneer new markets and applications such as the alloy testing application (starting in 1977) and the environmental monitoring application (starting in 1979).

Prior to Metorex, Jim spent 14 years with Packard Instrument Co Inc, of Downers Grove, Il, USA. Packard Instrument Co, Inc, now part of the Life Sciences division of Perkin Elmer Corp., is a manufacturer of instruments for biomedical research. Demonstrating Clairvoyant Angelic Healing

A behind-the-scenes look at the factors in the Aura that influence your ability to create the health and wellness you desire. We will demonstrate clairvoyant analysis of the Human Energy Field and lead a short meditation to connect with one's Guardian Angels. Everyone knows a higher vibration is a good thing, but how can we best raise our vibration? One easy, playful, communal way is through laughter. It is a well known fact that laughter is good for you. It counteracts the negative effects of stress, makes for a more open creative mind, and connects people in positive ways...just to name a few benefits. Unfortunately, as we grow up, we laugh much less than we did as children, and many days go by when we don’t laugh at all. Laughter Yoga is a program based on the scientific fact that the brain can’t distinguish between genuine laughter and fake laughter and that we can plan for laughter instead of leaving it to chance by participating with childlike playfulness in exercises designed to prompt laughter.

Laughter leader Jane Meyers did a laughter yoga presentation in May that was so popular we’ve invited her back to get us laughing again. This experience can range from fun to profound. One gentleman at the last service confided that he was skeptical at the beginning. He didn’t feel like laughing because of a huge personal loss that had just happened. He cooperated though and was surprised to discover that he felt better and could begin to imagine thinking positively despite the unchanged situation he was in. Come to this service prepared to release the serious grip that life’s conditions may have on you, lighten your load and lift your spirit.

This talk will explore both parts of our psyche in times of crisis: personal, communal, national or universal. The purpose of the talk is to bring us all to higher awareness of the benefits of a crisis in helping us to refine and re-define our reactions, perchance to be responses!

Beth Patterson has an undergraduate degree in elementary education and an MA in religion from Iliff School of Theology in Denver.

She has served 20 years in end-of-life care at hospices in Florida and Colorado, first as a clinician in bereavement, children’s grief programs, and chaplaincy, and then as an administrator, operations officer and fund developer.

She has helped pioneer support and educational programs related to wellness and healing for children and adults, and programs specifically for persons living with AIDS.

"The use of subtle energy for self-healing"

This will be the next in the series of Dr. Givot's talks on subtle energy and Qi Gong at the Spiritual Awareness Center, with emphasis this time on learning practical techniques for treating oneself with the energy that is all around us.

Dr. Givot has learned these various methods mostly from teachers he studied with on his three trips to China, but also from his experience with Reconnective Healing, from the tradition of Brazilian Energy healing, and from many years of his own practice applying what he found to be the most useful methods.

Irv givot was first introduced to the experience of subtle energy on the rooftops of a village in the Greek Islands in 1971 by an American Yoga instructor. Two years later he found himself in a Gurdjieff group in Colorado, and continued his study of finer energies in that context for the next twenty years.

He took another step by studying with a Chi Gong master in Beijing in 1993 and again in 1996. The understanding he gained from those journeys is recorded in his book, /Healing in China/ (exlibris,2004).

Since then he has learned other forms of energy healing, and is also interested in the physical basis of this powerful form of energy that is still unknown to science.

Spiritual literature is filled with images of lifting consciousness up. We know that higher consciousness is necessary if we are to navigate our earthly lives with grace and joy. However, achieving that higher consciousness can be trickier than knowing we need to! There are many paths up the mountain of higher consciousness, and no need to compare them. All that matters is that you find a path that works for you.

One of the reasons we want to be filled with higher consciousness is that we want to pray for others as well as ourselves from that place. How do we pray? This will be an experience of lifting your consciousness and prayer.

Counselor and spiritual guide, Jane Meyers, will offer two paths for lifting consciousness culminating in prayer, in a highly experiential presentation.

One simple way to raise your consciousness is through laughter and play. Jane will discuss some of the many benefits of laughter and, more importantly, give you an experience of the joy and heightened consciousness that you can experience from laughing for no reason.

A second way to raise your consciousness is to tune into the Akashic Records. The Akasha is the vibration of primordial light. The Records hold the journey of each soul, the original design, the potential, and everything ever experienced. Jane will open the Records to give you an experience of that light, and to pray within that light.

Career Highlights
From November 1998 to January 2010, Jim was with Niton LLC, a supplier of hand-held x-ray fluorescence (HHXRF) spectrometers. In 2004, Niton was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific. With Thermo, Jim’s positions included VP Int’l Sales, Mgr Key Accounts, and Director, Business Development.

Prior to joining Niton, Jim was VP XRF Analyzers for Outokumpu Electronics, subsequently, Metorex, Inc., of Espoo, Finland. At Metorex he managed Western Hemisphere operations. During his 20 years with Metorex, Jim held various positions in technical sales and product management of portable XRF analyzers. In these positions Jim helped pioneer new markets and applications such as the alloy testing application (starting in 1977) and the environmental monitoring application (starting in 1979).

Prior to Metorex, Jim spent 14 years with Packard Instrument Co Inc, of Downers Grove, Il, USA. Packard Instrument Co, Inc, now part of the Life Sciences division of Perkin Elmer Corp., is a manufacturer of instruments for biomedical research. Communicating With Spirit

In this program we shall have a dialog with Spirit. We will be tapping in to what Carl Jung called the Collective Unconscious and into the Universal knowledge of our Guide Spirits.

‘Jesus: Portrait of a Radical’

In Portrait of a Radical, noted theologians and authors discuss the truly radical, dynamic and passionate message of Jesus. Unlike more traditional videos about the life of Jesus, Portrait of a Radical attempts, using powerful images and music, to move the viewer out of the intellect and into a space where the dynamic nature of Jesus can be experienced.

The film is not an advertisement for Christianity, it is a responsible look at the life of Jesus told in a language that can be heard by a person of any faith and in a style that attempts to reclaim Jesus' message from the institution that has, in many ways, obscured His radical, compassionate and inclusive teachings.

Portrait of a Radical relies heavily on art to help our speakers tell the story of the movement. In addition to original footage shot in Israel, the film makes strong use of frescoes and mosaics which tend to be more approachable than the better known traditional Christian art and Icons. The continuous stream of art and nature woven throughout the story seem to come to life with the music that lurks behind it.

From the first note of the provocative soundtrack, assembled exclusively of the music of Gabrielle Roth and the Mirrors, Portrait of a Radical attempts to draw the viewer into a space where Jesus can be experienced from a different perspective. The soundtrack carries a tribal rhythm which when fused with the carefully selected imagery instills within viewers a sense that they are experiencing some of the spirit of the Movement itself.

Beth Patterson has an undergraduate degree in elementary education and an MA in religion from Iliff School of Theology in Denver.

She has served 20 years in end-of-life care at hospices in Florida and Colorado, first as a clinician in bereavement, children’s grief programs, and chaplaincy, and then as an administrator, operations officer and fund developer.

She has helped pioneer support and educational programs related to wellness and healing for children and adults, and programs specifically for persons living with AIDS.

Currently, she serves as Director of Operations at the KIDS Center, a child advocacy center in Bend that does medical evaluations and treatment for children who have been abused, and supports a growing prevention program.

The Soul, Unconscious Mind and Transpersonal Hypnotherapy

At this point in time most of us feel a growing desire and need, for greater conscious awareness of our spiritual path. This awareness is cultivated by our spiritual practices and disciplines. There is also a deeper process that is emerging; our inner beingness. This transformational force that is emerging from within could be said to be emanating from the soul essence, the “ I Am That I Am’.

In between our ego consciousness and our soul essence is a vast territory called the unconscious mind.

Every person has archives of memories stored in their unconscious mind from the present time to the past. Why would we be interested in the unconscious mind? Because our awareness of reality is filtered through the unconscious before we become conscious of what we are seeing in the outer world.

Transpersonal Hypnotherapy offers a way to engage and participate in the emerging essence of the soul. A journey into the subconscious/unconscious mind by way of a trance state opens the door for a more conscious awakening process to unfold with greater ease and self-awareness. Opening this doorway allows the emerging soul essence to work more intimately with our conscious minds, ego personalities and facilitates the opportunity for a multidimensional healing.

For the last thirty five years of her nursing career, she had private practices in Biofeedback and Behavioral Medicine, and she is a Sr. Fellow in the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. In 2005 she graduated from the University of Creation Spirituality, Oakland, CA, with a Doctorate in Ministry. "Breath and Voice: The Link to Our Inner Landscape"

We will explore how breath links us to the Source of life itself. And how good use of our voices can be a manifestation of that link. It is understanding these two ingredients of singing and getting them to align and coordinate, that we find our authentic Voice.

Eileen Heaton has called Central Oregon home for 18 years. She maintains an active private voice studio and has been active as a singer and song leader all over the area. Eileen has led the Threshold Choir at Hospice and served as a patient volunteer for 15 years. She has conducted Taize services in the past and will begin again this fall. She is acting as Vocal Director for a production of "Cabaret" which will be performed at the Tower this September. She has performed a soloist for the Sunriver Music Festival, Cascade Chorale, Obsidian Opera, and Cabaret Connection, as well as for many of our area churches. Her students include those performing in our arts organizations, theaters, and churches. Several of her young students have gone on to begin successful professional careers. She has been a Teacher for 35 years.

Eileen is actively involved in the Sacred Art of Living Center and is a trained Spiritual Director and leads studies of the Enneagram. Eileen started her music education the day she was born, with two professional musicians as parents. After being active in her performing arts high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she went on to earn her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Voice from Indiana University (Bloomington). She spent 10 years in the professional New York City "scene", performing in theaters all along the east coast.

Her own vocal and physical work combined with years of working with brave vocal seekers have led her to conclude that singing is a spiritual path. She lives in Bend with her husband of 30 years, Michael Heaton.

She has served 20 years in end-of-life care at hospices in Florida and Colorado, first as a clinician in bereavement, children’s grief programs, and chaplaincy, and then as an administrator, operations officer and fund developer.

She has helped pioneer support and educational programs related to wellness and healing for children and adults, and programs specifically for persons living with AIDS.

Currently, she serves as Director of Operations at the KIDS Center, a child advocacy center in Bend that does medical evaluations and treatment for children who have been abused, and supports a growing prevention program.

Eileen Heaton has called Central Oregon home for 18 years. She maintains an active private voice studio and has been active as a singer and song leader all over the area. Eileen has led the Threshold Choir at Hospice and served as a patient volunteer for 15 years. She has conducted Taize services in the past and will begin again this fall. She is acting as Vocal Director for a production of "Cabaret" which will be performed at the Tower this September. She has performed a soloist for the Sunriver Music Festival, Cascade Chorale, Obsidian Opera, and Cabaret Connection, as well as for many of our area churches. Her students include those performing in our arts organizations, theaters, and churches. Several of her young students have gone on to begin successful professional careers. She has been a Teacher for 35 years.

Eileen is actively involved in the Sacred Art of Living Center and is a trained Spiritual Director and leads studies of the Enneagram. Eileen started her music education the day she was born, with two professional musicians as parents. After being active in her performing arts high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she went on to earn her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Voice from Indiana University (Bloomington). She spent 10 years in the professional New York City "scene", performing in theaters all along the east coast.

Her own vocal and physical work combined with years of working with brave vocal seekers have led her to conclude that singing is a spiritual path. She lives in Bend with her husband of 30 years, Michael Heaton.

On this Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21st, Summer Solstice, Su Skjersaa will lead us in a Native American based Fire Ceremony dedicated to The Masculine. It is He Who Carries the Light, Is Life’s Holy Husband, and plays in constant unification with the receptivity of the Feminine.

Presently we are living in the time-in-between Spring Planting and Autumn Harvest. Flowers are blooming, leaves have returned to the deciduous trees, food is easier to find, it holds the great nourishment, and feeds our physical forms with high, outwardly expressive energy. In harmony with this season’s high energy, our ritual will be active, illuminating and fun. During the ritual you will be invited come to the fire altar to make prayers, bring light to your intention for the season, leave seasonal flowers, fruit, or anything that holds a place of richness and joy in your heart. You may bring sacred items from home to place upon the altar/fire circle. These items will be blessed at the end of the ceremony, and returned to you as you leave.

June is the Moon of Honey, or the Honey Moon. We will feast on honey and fruit and ingest the wonder of the marriage of light and form…or the juicy sweetness of the gifts of this season.

Su Skjersaa Lukinbeal is a long-time resident of Bend. She has worked with a Native American woman for over forty years and has led women’s groups and rituals for that same period of time in Portland, Bend, and Lincoln City. As of January, 2009 she retired as a Registered Nurse. "Self Knowledge- It's Not What You Think"

A discussion regarding the path of Awakening from the delusion of separate self-identity.

Todd Corbett is a 60 year old ICU nurse that has been a practitioner at the Center for Sacred Sciences (CSS) in Eugene, Oregon since 1992. He came to CSS after being unable to come to terms with the death of a son and the subsequent ending of a 20 year marriage. After becoming involved with CSS, he then had multiple deaths of loved ones at 2 year intervals that repeated for a decade. The process of facing grief and loss, coupled with committed inquiry practices culminated in an awakening from the dream of separateness in the Fall of 2004.

He is currently a teacher at CSS and has led CSS retreats at Cloud Mountain Retreat Center in Castle Rock Washington.

In this presentation we will examine the three tasks and explore ways to fill those gaps so that our brilliant creations can flourish.

"Energy Medicine: Practical applications."

There will be a discussion of some of the concepts, followed by some exercises and demonstrations.

Irv givot was first introduced to the experience of subtle energy on the rooftops of a village in the Greek Islands in 1971 by an American Yoga instructor. Two years later he found himself in a Gurdjieff group in Colorado, and continued his study of finer energies in that context for the next twenty years.

He took another step by studying with a Chi Gong master in Beijing in 1993 and again in 1996. The understanding he gained from those journeys is recorded in his book, /Healing in China/ (exlibris,2004).

Since then he has learned other forms of energy healing, and is also interested in the physical basis of this powerful form of energy that is still unknown to science.

Spring Equinox Ceremony with Terri Daniel

Spiritual Counselor Terri Daniel will lead a Spring Equinox ceremony at the Old Stone Church on Sunday, March 15 at 9 a.m. The ceremony provides an opportunity for individuals to actively involve themselves in ritual by acknowledging not only the change in seasons, but the changes they wish to create in themselves.
